Earlier this year, the Belgian National Internet Exchange applied to join the MANRS (Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security) initiative. MANRS is supported by the Internet Society and offers norms and guidelines to improve routing security on the internet.

To be accepted as a participant, an IXP must demonstrate commitment by implementing at least three out of five of the IXP Program Actions. And so we’re very happy to announce that our application has been approved on October 4. More information on the actions taken by BNIX can be found on: https://www.manrs.org/participant/3970/

For us, the participation to MANRS reflects our commitment to security and sustainability of the Internet and dedication to providing high quality services.

“The importance of MANRS cannot be understated because of the critical challenges the routing on the internet faces. Being the biggest Internet Exchange in Belgium, it is crucial that we contribute to a stronger route security and evangelize this to our community”, says Stefan Gulinck, Network Architect at BNIX.
